Roadblocks are real and never that much fun, but comebacks are also real and an absolute blast, so let’s live a life of comebacks, shall we?  How exactly do you do that?  It’s simple…by shifting into a higher energy field and accepting your unique awesomeness!

That’s right, you’re awesome and it’s about time you realize it.  You get one crack at life and there’s no point spending your time doing things you don’t want to do, working a job that does anything other than fulfill you or sharing yourself with people who do not value you.  You are the solution to your problems and a simple shift will make that so crystal clear to you, that you’ll be shocked that you never saw what was right in front of you and inside of you all along.

If this concept is new to you, it probably sounds a little out there.  I never believed in this stuff for most of my life, because it seemed, well...WEIRD.  Also, when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.  Trust me when I say...THIS STUFF WORKS!

We’ve all grown up watching those movies that tell us that what we’ve been searching for can be found inside each of use, but why don’t we ever seem to heed the lesson?  Dorothy didn’t need that hot air balloon to get back to Kansas and you don’t need anything other than yourself to get to your version of HOME.

What you do need is an open mind and a willingness to get uncomfortable and try things you’ve never tried.  In doing things that make you uncomfortable, you will learn lessons you didn’t realize you needed to learn, which will reveal new lessons that hadn’t previously existed in your reality.  Keep getting uncomfortable, keep learning, keep growing and you will be astounded by the positive shifts that will rock your world and change you forever.

A great way to spark that change is by reading a book.  I’m not just talking about any book, because as much as I love a good piece of fiction, that’s not the type of novel that’s going to spark the kind of awesome shift that you deserve.  The world is full of great minds and many of them have put what they’ve learned on to paper or into an e-reader, so that you and I can reap the benefits of the life lessons they’ve accumulated, without having to go on their journey.  A good self-help book is a great way to slowly shift your perspective out of a place of scarcity and into one of abundance.

I didn't grow up a big fan of reading.  As a kid, I really only read so that I could get stars on my Pizza Hut "Book-It" pin and earn a free personal sized pizza.  I'm a pepperoni and mushroom kinda guy...just in case you were wondering.  I'm down with other toppings, but there's just nothing better than this classic duo.  Batman & Robin...Will & Grace...pepperoni & mushroom...they just make sense!

As I got older, I became a master at Cliff's Notes!  One time, back in high school, we were reading "Beowulf" and writing journal entries documenting our reading experience.  Well, AJ browsed the Cliff's Notes for a basic understanding of the book's plot and then borrowed a classmate's journal for journal entry "ideas."  Translation...I forged every journal entry and my ass got busted!  I don't recommend this route to anyone.  Also, why on earth do high school kids need to read "Beowulf?"

As a grown man, I've fallen in love with so many great books over the years that have entertained,  inspired and informed me.

I'm writing this blog and releasing my first book this fall because of the connection I've felt to authors and books that have pushed me to be a better man.  I care about you guys and I want to share what I've learned!

I cannot tell you how many of these I’ve read and how profoundly some have impacted my life, but I can share a list of my favorites, which I’ve done below.  Get to reading, stay open to the possibility that you might learn something and let me know what you think of my list!  Also, if you have a favorite book that you think I should read, please share it in the comments below.  I promise, I'll read more than just the Cliff's Notes!

Here are 5 of my faves in no particular order!
